Airport Reveals Some of the Oddest Items they’ve Ever Confiscated

While the TSA delights us on a regular basis with the strange items they’ve confiscated from passengers’ bags, London City Airport just revealed their list of unusual objects intercepted by security officials. It’s so out-there that it was hard to narrow down the best—in fact, a study commissioned by the airport found that around one in eight people in the UK have had to surrender an item in their carry-on, like furry handcuffs. Here are the top eight bizarre things found:

A bubble-making gun

Horse food

Play-Doh My Little Pony Make ‘N Style ponies

Potato forks for fondue and pickled gherkins

Tinned tuna, pickles, and expensive dog shampoo

Snow globes

Harrods and Fortnum & Mason jams and spreads

Snow globes are the most commonly seized items, and on average, two pairs of furry handcuffs are confiscated every month. ”Last year the airport welcomed 4.3 million passengers along with an eclectic range of restricted items,” said Declan Collier, chief executive officer at London City Airport. “Snow globes continue to be a favorite souvenir, perhaps as a paperweight for the business travelers who make up more than half of our passengers. Unfortunately, these and other liquid items aren’t allowed on board and it’s best to pack them safely in the hold luggage.”
