Sexiest Hotel Rooms
Just what is it about hotels that puts travelers in the mood?
Maybe it’s the decor or the subdued lighting. Perhaps it’s the excitement of sleeping somewhere new where you don’t have to trouble yourself with tidying up or seeing the physical reminders of the daily grind that inevitably line most of our bedrooms at home. One thing is certain there’s just something about hotel rooms that’s plain sexy.
Not to be outdone though there are hotels which just take that concept even further! Here’s a list of some of the sexiest hotels and resorts:
The Royalton, New York City
Dim lighting, a glass-encased fireplace, and leather embellishments set the stage at this darkly masculine Philippe Starck–designed hotel in midtown Manhattan. In the alcove suite, nearly 10,000 mirrored tiles surround the enormous, round tub in what has cheekily been dubbed the “disco ball bathroom.” Meanwhile an in-room wood-burning fireplace awaits at the foot of your bed. In case that’s not enough encouragement, the minibar setup comes complete with a blindfold and satin restraints.
De L’Europe, Amsterdam
Set on the border of Amsterdam’s Red Light District, the historic De L’Europe offers elegant guestrooms with richly colored accents and plush, stately furnishings. To add to the experience, the hotel’s “Romance Package” comes with a bottle of Champagne and a gift of upscale boudoir accessories from local erotica company 210th .
Acido Dorado, Joshua Tree, California
Though it’s not a hotel, per se, the California design property Acido Dorado is a desert sight to behold, with its perforated concrete and sculpted wrought iron, all shimmering in gold. Inside, a pool in the living room (no joke), glass walls, and mirrored ceilings reflect the gold-on-gold-on-gold color scheme. This very private Joshua Tree property has two master suites with showers that open to a wrap-around atrium. Stays can be arranged through villa rental sources.
Princeville St. Regis, Kauai, Hawaii
On the northern shore of the lush island of Kauai, the Princeville St. Regis offers a luxurious spot for a romantic escape. In the Prince suites, picture windows in the shower overlook mountains and the bay, and flood the bathroom with natural light. The windows also have “smart glass” technology and frost up with the touch of a switch when necessary. Look for a suite that has the futuristic glass between the bedroom and bathroom as well.
Jakes, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica
Set on the coast of Treasure Beach, Jamaica, where the vibe is bohemian and artistic roots run deep, the eco-friendly Jakes has three private bungalows that sit on the shoreline facing the sea. The Gaudi-inspired, um, “Octopussy” suites, bedecked with shells and sea glass, are straight out of Atlantis’s kingdom. Muslin-strewn queen-size beds and outdoor claw-footed bathtubs are a prelim to the main event: a rooftop festooned with pillows, perfect for stargazing (and any other relevant activities).
El Monte Sagrado, Taos, New Mexico
The earthen Adobe-style suites at El Monte Sagrado are set back among vines and streams, like tree houses that sprouted from the ground itself. This mountain resort, a member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection, is a haven for eco-lovers and spa enthusiasts. Among the many themed guestrooms, the Premier Kama Sutra Suite features a private courtyard with secluded views overlooking the Taos Mountains and is adorned with intricate carving work, lush upholstery, and artwork suggestive of the tome.
The Line, Los Angeles
With its central Koreatown location, proximity to exceptional restaurants and nightlife, and gritty-cool cityscape aesthetic, the Line is a jetsetter’s choice. Each luxe room is framed with a wall of windows overlooking the Hollywood Hills and surrounds. The hotel itself has a vibrant nightlife, with a bar, dance floor, and live performances on site. But for those who prefer more private recreation, each room’s minibar is stocked with an “intimacy kit.”
Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, Dubai
With design features inspired by the elements—fireball-shooting towers at the approach, skipping water fountains in the lobby—theBurj Al Arab Jumeirah has an otherworldly vibe. Standing like a billowing sail off the coast of Dubai, the hotel is suites-only; each duplex guestroom has a dedicated butler and two-story windows facing the Arabian Gulf. Among the room’s many amenities (which, please note, include a 24-carat gold iPad for use during your stay) are the master bathroom’s full-size Jacuzzi and separate five-head rain shower.
Setai Miami, Miami
A favorite of the celebrity set (including Lenny Kravitz, who has a recording studio in the penthouse), the Setai is an oasis from Miami’s steamy climate and nightlife, Just off the beach on Collins Avenue, the hotel offers Asian-influenced guestrooms swathed in soothing neutrals and cool granite features. En suite bathrooms, some with soaking tubs at the foot of the bed, facilitate private in-room spa treatments like couples massages.
Le Chalet Zannier, Megève
Take a traditional viennoiserie breakfast in your chalet before chauffeuring to the slopes with your personal ski concierge at this sophisticated log cabin in the French Alps. Then fill your day with world-class skiing, ice skating, and sledding with huskies before retiring to a suite so warmly appointed with wood, stone, and muted colors, it feels almost like home. With wrap-around terraces and enormous open-hearth fireplaces, the rooms could not get cozier.
Blakes, London
It’s probably no accident that Anuska Hemple, the designer of this sexy London boutique hotel, is a former Bond girl. Opened in the late ’70s, the intimate property became a favorite of film and rock stars for its opulent luxury and discreet service, with multiple entrances and exits aiding privacy—and the occasional illicit affair. In the signature Corfu Suite, a super-size four-poster bed draped with butterfly netting and a monochromatic mother-of-pearl palette give the room an airy, snuggle-up-and-sleep-in-late mood.
Strawberry Hill, Jamaica
This whitewashed colonial-style estate set in the peaks of the Jamaican Blue Mountains was once a romantic escape for Bob Marley. Each hilltop suite is shrouded in privacy and accented with mahogany woodwork, a private-view veranda, and a plush four-poster bed.
